So many contemporary parents seem to virtually idolize immature humans of their particular genetic lineage, and I don't understand it. At all.

I am familiar with the paper you got this nonsense from and they are not reliable. The fact is that amongst persistently sex non-conforming children, the vast majority will be either homosexual or transsexual. Clearly the latter is a better option.

It comes down to PROFITS. By way of a few examples consider the lowly medical doc at 450 Sutter S.F. who boasts having done in excess of 2000 double mastectomies on minor girls. Talk to Big Pharma, ask them about the addictive nature of T. Testosterone, but also contemplate the life long necessity to maintain the preferred appearance.
Imagine each person undergoes about 10 elective cosmetic surgeries. 100s of thousands of school text books need all be replaced to add the new terminology. Trainers of employees, in all career endeavors promoting the changes.
If you ask someone “can a child be born in the wrong body?” I bet you, in the absence of any precipitating discussion of “trans”, 9/10 people would say no. “Would you tell a child that their body is a mistake?” Who can say “yes” with a straight face?
I just don’t see how reasonable people do not see this. But then we have “the other side” that does not really care about the kids but their own interests. I agree that age 25 or 30 is the right age for these decisions. The medical profession and the left are failing these kids and their parents. Many on the right are using this issue to bolster their own interests. How did something so personal become such a political hot potato? I agree this is like anorexia. I agree autistic kids are affected. I agree we are pandering to what teenagers say. I hope some reasonableness can somehow be saved. Look at the science and doctors wake the f***k up!

The real problem is today’s kids can’t handle typical adolescent angst. Parents fall all over themselves to fix the problem versus making kids suck it up and endure. Social media makes it worse by labeling. I hated my body and was very self conscious for years It was humbling- another trait kids need to learn. Finally I grew up and out of it. Kids aren’t given the luxury of time to do that these days
Sex reassigning surgery is not a cosmetic procedure. It leaves body mutilated and dysfunctional. Every magic has its price. Adults have serious emotional problems and they may not admit that is not worth it
Agree children are not trans.They do not have to confirm to any gender.They can play whatever they want to and they should be left in peace. You born in the body and is yours and if is healthy doesn't need to be altered. It is enough to tell children and adolescents that they belong they are OK the way they are. Adolescents are always frustrated by the way their body looks and ipuberty is hard.So do not lie to teens that if they alter their body they will be different gender.They will malfunction in their own body and it is tragic

While the term 'transkid' is not one I have ever liked, there are sex-non-conforming children (sometimes called 'gender non-conforming' but that is misleading). These are well documented in the peer-reviewed literature and have been for many decades. I agree that the present hysteria is ridiculous but in the first place the current issue is really over adolescent females -- who were a tiny percentage of those presenting as 'trans' until about 12 years ago but are now a majority. Most of these have a socially induced neurosis akin to bulimia, self-harm etc; in other words they are not trans and should not be encouraged. Secondly, you cannot erase a vulnerable class of people just because you want them to not exist. The West once went to war to stop a man with exactly those ideas.
I liked your mention of the lack of statistics on past suicide rates among presumed trans population. And your comparison between sensible responses to a child's wishes, and the undiscuted abiding to children 's demands once they claim a trans identity. It says a lot about why many kids are tempted by the empowering transgender label.
