One can be seriously emotionally troubled and yet highly intelligent and articulate, like Debbie Hayton or Buck Angel. It's like any other compulsion to harm oneself to relieve mental distress. It should be absolutely unacceptable among rational people to see the adulatory articles and photos of now-"Elliot" Page which reveal a profoundly-ill person showing off her mutilations.
We need to stop accepting the misuse of language. Gender refers only to language. Language is gendered; people are sexed. A person's private need to live as another sex doesn't require society to accept the issuing of fraudulent replacement birth certificates or participation in incorrect sex categories for sports etc. You wish to change your name? Fine; you may legally be called "Ethel" instead of "Ed" because that harms no one. But "Ethel" can't join the girls' track team.
There aren't harmless or kind lies. There are just lies.

I have to say that I think it is a serious mistake to think that the GOP defends our rights better than the Democrats. I've seen posts, for example, about Republican Texas enacting Tort reform that made it impossible to sue surgeons for malpractice after they'd butchered someone's genitals.
Who in Pharma is profiting? This is above party politics. It is institutional capture across the board.
I also don't think the judiciary will save us from this.
There needs to be room in our understanding for the fact that some people honestly think they are doing the right thing by transitioning children. Our best hope, I think, is to push back with compassion, with reason, and with persuasion. For example, I personally do not think anyone has the right to deprive another individual of their sexual function & fertility. And I do not think children, teens & youth have the ability to understand what such a sacrifice means. I do not think they can give informed consent. Let's take this debate to that visceral level. Because adults who think they can decide which kids are "truly trans" and which are not ... are mistaken & are taking on much more responsibility than is their right.
The WPATH radicals are responsible for this. Let's not forget them regarding lawsuit plans, especially Leeper who seems to believe cozying up to parents admonishes her somehow from the harm she has helped inflict on families and vulnerable young people. These people are making loads of money off our vulnerable young people. The tide is changing.
Many people have suggested trans activism is about power - make people say what they know is false, like 'trans women are women', and it shows you've won.
But this article made me think something else for the first time. Maybe this lust for power is also a lust for cruelty. To damage people.

I completely agree that Gender Ideology concerns must transcend the political divide. We must join together liberal and conservative; LGB and straight (a true alliance not the school clubs that are about Trans indoctrination); religious, very religious, agnostic, and actual atheist (gender ideology is a religion for those think they have none), Democrat (Brandon went to a town hall and celebrated the transition of a 9 year old girl during his campaign and somehow people are surprised about the bent of this administration), Republican (they were wrong not to speak out about "the cultural stuff" much), and the unaffiliated (I've voted for both parties and never registered with either until pretty recently when I decided the Rs are the lesser of two evils), the Social Justice Warriors and those who roll their eyes and smile at Social Justice Warriors... We must all stand up for reality in this Orwellian nightmare.
Some of the doctors and pharma people ought to be in jail. Perhaps the mothers who transition minors should be as well (this is child abuse). Were you aware that Diane Ehrenshaft (the doctor who said if a girl has regrets she can have new breasts made - no big deal) was part of a previous craze you mention (satanic abuse). One of the biggest problems is our education system in the US. There have been wonderful teachers in my family but I have come to think the Department of Education (too big to fail?) and the teachers unions should be shut down. Their mission has drifted too far from the three Rs and from negotiating things like salary. They've been co-opted by those who push Gender.
Amoral medics, surgeons and pharmaceutical companies are making big bucks from helping the neurodiverse and mentally unwell destroy their ability to reproduce in the future and make themselves lifelong patients. Not just bad science but actively harmful.
